For example, if you wish to promote an affiliate program called “Golf For Beginners”, then you can buy a domain name related to this affiliate programs. You may need to check the availability of the domain name that you wish to purchase. I bought mine from GoDaddy.com. Once you purchase the domain name, go to the homepage of the company that you purchase it from and do the following steps:

-go to your account setting
-manage domain
-domain forwarding
-insert URL or website address which you would like your domain name to be forwarded to (your affiliate link)
-save the settings

That’s it! It may take up to 48 hours to process the results but from then on, whenever someone type your domain, the site will be immediately redirected to the affiliate website which you have signed up with. You can then use the domain name of website address in your signature block in forum posts, on blogs or in articles and you will be driving traffic to the merchant site.

If you join a forum, I recommend that you participate for a few days before you start introducing your affiliate program to others. Read the rules of the forum that you participate before you do any post to prevent your post being deleted. Different forum have different rules, so read up the rules before you post.

This could be as simple as visitors sharing their email address for an online newsletter, or as complex as filling out a loan application. Again, payment varies, but is usually a flat rate.

Finding Potential Affiliates

A business owner that is interested in locating affiliates for promoting their offer can use Craigslist to help them find such affiliates. Though it seems logical to list affiliate opportunities under the jobs category at Craigslist, it's important to know that this goes against the sites rules for job postings. This simply means that if you are looking to find affiliates you'll have to do so by using different areas on Craigslist.

Any discussion forums that are related to your offer are a way to locate potential affiliates. If you use this method, though, be careful to avoid spamming the forums with sign up links for your program. Spamming techniques like this make you look unprofessional to any potential affiliates and if the Craigslist moderators see fit, they will ban you from the forums. Making a logical and relevant contribution to discussions and getting to know other forum participants is an ideal way to connect with potential affiliates. The successful affiliate marketer carefully creates a blueprint for his/her affiliate marketing success. In order to see results (i.e a commission check), you've have got to follow a plan. Here is my simple strategy that you can use to take your affiliate marketing business to the next level:

1. Select a affiliate marketplace that has a ton of product. The reason why this is important is because you need to be able to have a array of products that relates to your niche. I recommend clickbank because of it's tenure and dependability of paying you your commissions on time. It is very important to have a reliable company, so that you don't end up putting in a lot of hard work and effort, make sales and then not get paid. Clickbank's reputation for paying as scheduled ( every 2 weeks) is paramount.

2. After you have found your marketplace, it is now time to choose a niche. Many marketers fail in this arena because they are simply trying to promote a different array of products to everyone. It just doesn't work. I suggest that you go after an audience that is targeted to the audience you are trying to reach. After you have decided what that will be, then you will need to choose at least 4 products that compliment each other. for example, if you are targeting a golf audience, then a good thing to do would be to choose a product on how to perfect your golf swing, the best places to play golf, how to pay cheap green fees, and how to improve your score in 45 days or less. these are just examples, but I hope you get the picture.

3.Next you want to set up a website or blog (preferably a blog). You can get a free blog at wordpress or blogger. After you have set up your blog site, you need to make it relevant to what you are promoting. An example would be a golf blog with a golf them. Make sure that the title of your blog is relevant to your products. Choose strong keywords. A good way to find good keywords for your title, is to look at the descriptions of your selected products and also pay close attention to the words in the title. I sometimes use one of the titles of my selected products as a title for my blog site. for some reason, search engines love this!

4.Okay, next you need to write at least 3 articles on each one of your products, so for example, if you selected 4 products, then you would write 12 articles. These articles need to be keyword strong, but don't overdo it. If for some reason, you don't consider yourself an effective writer, then you can hire ghostwriters to write for you for a nominal fee. After you have your articles, it would be a good idea to place one a day on your blog and include the product affiliate links in the articles. After you have done that, you should also submit your articles to article directories. In most cases, you cannot include affiliate links in the articles themselves, however, you can place a link back to your blog in a resource box. A resource box is a small bio that you place at the end of your articles. It is important that you make your articles interesting enough that people will want to read down to your bio. That way, you have a better chance of them wanting to visit your site. Once they reach your site, it is a good chance that they might be interested in buying your affiliate products.

5.Submit your blog to every social bookmarking site that you can find. this really drives traffic and moves you up in the search engine ranks, as well. there are many sources. My favorites are stumbleupon, de.li.cio.us and feedshark. There are a ton of others that you can use. Just go to your favorite search engine and you will find them.

6.Put a sign up box on your site and give your readers a reason to sign up to your mail list. One good reason would be to give away a product that is related to what you are promoting. Sometimes, I bundle all of articles together in one report, convert it to .pdf, give it a title and give it away to my subscribers. I also give them rights to distribute that report to anyone or everyone. Why? because my links are embedded in the report and it gives me more opportunity to make more sales. Once you have captured their email address, keep in touch with them and share resources, tips and tools that they can use, which are related to your niche. This will not only brand you as an expert, it will also allow you to build trust and credibility with your subscribers. Don't bombard them with sales offers. Once they trust you, they will come to you.

7.Another affiliate marketing success tip is to contact the authors of your niche products and set up interviews with them. You can promote this to your list as a live seminar, in which during the seminar, they will be given the opportunity to buy the author's product, with your link of course, or as a bonus recording for joining your list.

Affiliate Internet Business Start-up Tips For Beginners

Once you have found an affiliate internet business that you would like to join the first step is to sign-up as an affiliate. The information requested from you on the affiliate business program sign-up forms differ from program to program. You may have already noticed that some programs request an awful lot of information whilst others request minimal information.

The affiliate internet business sign-up form will request you to give your name and email address. You will also be asked to choose a username and password. The username is a name that you would like to be known as while being an affiliate of the program and it may also be used by you to login to your affiliate panel and sometimes used in your affiliate url. So choose a name that is easy to type and remember and usually it must be a minimum of 5 characters long.

When it comes to entering your password, do not get confused and insert the password that you use to access your email account of the email address you have just provided. Choose a totally new password and type it all in small letters.

It is really important that you enter your email address correctly because more often than not the first thing that will happen is they will send an email to you requesting you to confirm that your email address is correct and that you did in fact request to be signed-up and agree to receive information from them.

Sometimes on the sign-up form you may be asked to confirm your email address. This simply means that you must type the same email address again in the box provided.

You may also have seen a note on the affiliate internet business program page asking you to white list their email address. This is to ensure that you do in fact receive the email they are going to send you. So you need to add their email address to your address book so that it will not be blocked by spam filters or end up in your spam folder.

The first email you receive from the affiliate program may request you to click on a confirmation link. Once you click on the confirmation link then you should receive an introductory email containing your affiliate information, such as username, password, link to access the affiliate program, your affiliate url etc., etc.

Click on the link to access the affiliate section of your affiliate internet business, once it is open in your browser Bookmark it in your Favorites so that you have easy access to it in the future. So as to keep your Favorites well organized, you could prior to doing this create a folder in your Favorites called Affiliate Programs and then bookmark your first program in that folder.

If you are not sure how to create a new folder, click on Favorites on your horizontal menu above your browser window, click on Organize Favorites, click on New Folder and type in the name of your new folder, press Enter and then click on Close. Now open your Favorites sidebar (in Windows XP a star icon on the left of your screen or press Alt+C) and you will see your new folder.

The first time you access your affiliate back office it is a good idea to go to your Profile or Personal Information page just to check that the information you inserted on the sign-up page is correct and you will probably be requested to enter further information.

It is really important to ensure that you provide the correct information they require in order to pay you. If they are paying by cheque be sure that your postal address is 100% correct. If they are using a payment processor such as for example PayPay or AlertPay you will notice that they request an email address. This is how these two payment processors work, your email address is your account number. So you would then have to open an account at PayPay or AlertPay (or whatever processor they are using) and then return to this page and enter the email address that you used to open the account.

Other payment processors do give you an actual account number, but you will normally be prompted on your profile page to enter an email address or account number so it is not easy to make a mistake.

As you will receive regular emails from the affiliate internet business programs that you join, it is a good idea to open a folder in your email account with the name of the affiliate program and file them away which helps keep you organized so that you can easily locate them. Be sure to save the email you receive with your sign up information.

Once the sign-up process is over you are now officially an affiliate and you have your own affiliate internet business. Congratulations! It is now time to get to work!

Spend time exploring your back office, go through all the links so that you get a good understanding of the program and go through the training program that they provide. Study the marketing materials such as the web page for you to market, internet marketing methods they recommend, banners, text links, splash pages, examples of solo adverts, email ads and classified ads etc.

Many of the affiliate internet business programs will provide you with the name and contact details of your sponsor so don’t be afraid to contact them if you need assistance. Also you may well find that the affiliate program has a forum, if so, I highly recommend you spend time there as they are not only usually a gold mine of information but where you can ask questions and seek advice from other affiliate internet business owners.

The best way to get people and search engines (which means more people) to your website is by getting relevant inbound links. If you have some spiffy new gimmick on your website this may be easy as everyone will be linking to you.
However, with a basic, solid web page the process maybe much more difficult and slower. How do you get people to link to you?
The best way is to empty your wallet! Ok, just kidding, but first we will learn how easy that is.
For example there is a pay for blogging service that will cost you at least $5 per blog post (ie: per link) and maybe $25 or more. Now that will eat up your budget, and fast. These paid blog links don't come with any guarantee. You might get lots of visitors and you might not get any at all.
Pay per click is another great option for spending all your money. This will bring you visitors for sure and you'll know how much each one costs. That's it. There is no long term benefit. The ads show for only as long as you pay for them. When your money isn't on the table, you don't exist!
You can buy links all over the place and again this may end up costing you a pretty penny, you may or may not get suitable results but when you stop paying the results (good or bad) stop. You gain nothing for the future.

It's true! You can have a blog totally free, courtesy of Google and, not only that, Google will pay you for allowing them to run Ads on your blog. I promise you, once you get past the learning curve, it's fairly easy to have your own blog.

So, what's a blog, Jim? I'm glad you asked! A blog is your own address in cyberspace, your own on line bulletin board so to speak, where you can post your comments, ideas, plans, loves, hassles, or pet peeves to share with the world - and - the world will talk back to you! I invite you to take a few minutes and browse the sections of my blogs (see Author Box) to get an idea of what I have done so far. I began blogging in May 2006 with one blog and absolutely no prior experience! I now have 15 blogs covering a wide variety of topics.

What could your blog be about? For example: I told my daughter that she should start a blog on Home Birthing or Midwifery. She does this for a living and knows all the inside information. She created her blog in a few hours and it's now on line getting visitors.
I also told my step-son that he should have a blog on NASCAR, his first love, or on Auto & Life Insurance, his career. He has tons of knowledge in both. Actually, he could have blogs on both! He has not taken the plunge just yet. He is going for his college degree first.
I told my daughter-in-law that she should have a blog about Custom Furniture. She designs and builds furniture. These are one-of-a-kind pieces. I think she could make a nice income from her talent. She just gave us a new grandaughter so she's pretty busy right now but I know she will do it. She is excited over the idea.

Get my point? You choose what your blog topic is. With the new video and audio widgets now coming into popularity you can even have blogs sharing home movies, you own movie creations, music, you name it. And, best of all, it's all Free!

You'll find lots of Free Resources and some paid resources on my blogs (see Author Box) but here are some quick resources.

I learned a lot about the technical stuff by joining Google Groups. Bloggers ask each other questions and learn from experienced bloggers who teach you how to avoid making mistakes. It cuts down the learning curve significantly! Yes, it's Free to join and ask questions. You will find links to some of the most helpful Free blog building resources in Google Groups because the experienced bloggers all have blogs offering Free technical help.
In my opening to this article I mention Google paying you for running Ads on your blog. Well, it's called Google Adsense. It's Free to signup and easy to implement. Google has an Adense Tour on their start page. Basically Google pays you everytime someone clicks on an Ad on your blog even if they don't buy anything. It's easy to set up once you have your blog set up. Check my blogs to see what I have done with Google Adsense.

If you do decide you want your own Free Blog, I recommend Blogger.com. That's where I started and where I have all my blogs hosted - all Free! In addition to Adsense Ads you can sell products on your blog too as long as you don't overdo it. Blogs are supposed to be about your thoughts and ideas, not about selling products. I have products on my blogs that I sell for commissions plus lots of freebies but the focus of every blog is to provide thoughtful information. The key is good Free content and lots of it.

"Content" is articles by you, or others, that will draw the Search Engines to your blog. A Search Engine got you here didn't it? The Search Engines need content to find you. They search by the words ( they're called "keywords") in your articles and in your page "Description" which you create when you create your blog. Look at the top of my blogs, under the name of the blog - "On Line Tribune............" - to see what I mean. I have keywords in the Description of each of my blogs. This tells the Search Engines what each blog is about so that someone searching for that particular information will find me.

Right now you have enough information to decide if you want a blog or a website. Remember the difference. A blog is an opportunity to put your ideas out there for everyone to see and comment upon. A website is usually a commercial venture that is built to sell products or services. It does not usually have a blog format where customers can talk to each other like they can on a blog. However, many companies are now realizing the value of blogging with their customers and have installed blogs on their commercial websites. So far in this mini-course you have learned where what Article Marketing is, what it does, and what it can do. You have learned about products, websites, squeeze pages, autoresponders, and lists. We have talked about article directories, types of article submission, and how to write effective articles. We discussed credibility and what to expect as an article marketer. Now we will put it all together and get your business of the ground.

** Part 13 – Putting it All Together **

Ok here we go. Let’s go through the steps to getting your Article Marketing career started.

1.) Products

Find a number of products. One to use as a give away to attract subscribers to your list and at least one more to upsell to those who opt in.

These can be products you have created yourself, purchased, or are from an affiliate marketing group.

2.) Website

Get yourself a domain name and purchase professional web hosting. I know that it might seem expensive at first but you will thank yourself later

3.) Squeeze Page

Create the framework of a squeeze page for your website. Keep fancy technologies like Flash, Shockwave, animated graphics, etc off of your business site. Do not use banners or text links on your business site.

Give visitors only 2 choices opt in or leave.

4.) Get an Autoresponder

Script or service, it is your choice, but you need an autoresponder. Generate the sign up form with your autoresponder then cut and paste the code into your squeeze page in the desired location.

5.) Your List

Follow up. Immediately begin email marketing to your list using the schedule listed in this mini-course as soon as you get your first subscriber.

Move any subscriber that purchases a product to your customer list.

6.) Article Distribution

Make a list of any ezines that publish content in you field. Send email to the publisher asking if they accept article submissions. Include an example of your work. If they will accept your articles create a mailing list with all of the publishers who want your articles on it. Send a message to your list with any new material you write.

Sign up with as many article directories as you like. Be sure to read the Editorial Guidelines for each directory you sign up with and abide by them.

7.) Articles

Begin writing articles in the niche you have selected, and post them to the article directories

Use the information in this mini-course dealing with outline, headlines, and author resource box to write high quality, information filled articles that your readers will enjoy.

8.) Write, Write, Write

Be consistent. Write each and every day. More articles in distribution means more backlinks to your website and more subscribers to your list.

Honestly that is all there is to it. It will seem like there is so much more but broken down in a nutshell that’s it.

You can do this, don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot. If there are internet professionals who are making six figures simply by article marketing, it is proven that it can be done. You can do it too.
